One Right

A bass line set in triple meter to evokes a wandering nature, and a blues form with an atypical cadence to enhances the feeling of exploration in this original composition by Dan, performed live in Ohio. “I set out to write a tune which would develop more or less linearly, regarding the thematic material as well as the energy of the band’s performance.” The instruments in the band join in at different times, as if the ensemble is growing organically, and there is a natural build from the melody through the solos, after which ensemble figures provide the band something to grab hold of while raising the intensity. The developing harmony and swelling ferocity of the drums help lift the song to its final note.
