Novo Sete

Novo Sete translates to "new seven," referring to the meter of seven-four in which the song is set. This meter has an inherent vibrancy owing to it's odd number, and when combined with a cooking Brazilian beat, Novo Sete builds in energy throughout. That was the intent when pianist Michael Eckroth composed the piece, saying that he "wanted to do something with a mellow sound, but [also] something that could build up from a simmer into something much bigger." Performed live in Ohio, Novo Sete certainly does that, capping it off at the end with a fiery drum solo by Jerome Jennings.
